More About Microsclerotherapy

Fine needles are used to inject a sclerosing agent into blue feeder veins of up to 4mm. This causes these veins to form small clots, collapse and be absorbed by the body. *Two to three treatments are normally needed to achieve optimal results, although maintenance treatments every 12-18 months are needed due to the genetic nature of this problem.

The procedure takes 60 minutes, although a 90 minute appointment will be booked to allow time to prepare the legs and assist in getting the compression hosiery fitted, following the procedure. Compression hosiery needs to be measured and ordered in advance and is compulsory for the first 10-14 days, depending on the size of the veins. Intervals between treatments are 8-10 weeks.

This procedure is only performed between March and September due to the fact that these months are cooler and therefore compression hosiery can be worn with more ease.

Spider veins are best treated after bigger blue feeder veins have been treated, * to achieve better and longer-lasting results.
